A Bradly Mims became the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Deputy Administrator in February 2021. He brings with him more than 40 years of government and private sector experience and a passion for diversity, equity and inclusion in the workforce.

Brad most recently worked as the President and CEO of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMT). COMTO promotes opportunities and eliminates barriers sot that people of color can fully participate in the transportation industry.

In November 2020, President Biden’s transition team called on Brad to become the agency review team Subject Matter Expert on racial equity. That role ultimately led to the opportunity to serve as the FAA Deputy Administrator. He previously worked as the head of government relations at the FAA and the DOT Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs.

Brad grew up in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol, Deputy Administrator Mims came of age during the great race to space in the 1960s. Since then, he’s been an advocate technology, innovation and people in his various roles as a government relations specialist with a multi-modal transportation background.

After graduating from Allegheny College with a bachelor’s degree in political science, Brad went to work on Capitol Hill as a transportation staffer for members of Congress, including congressman John Lewis (GA) and congressman Julian Dixon (CA).

He has served as a congressional liaison for the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum, a transportation specialist on the IT and Transportation Teams at Booz Allen Hamilton, an Aviation Markets President at Parsons Brinckerhoff, and a member of the Washington Metropolitan Airports Authority Board of Directors.

Brad has also served as a transportation subject matter expert with Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA).
