Ron Nirenberg

Mayor, San Antonio, TX

Greetings!

The City of San Antonio is honored to host this year’s AMAC Airport Business Diversity Conference. It will be a time for thousands of attendees from diverse backgrounds to receive relevant and timely information on aviation-related issues. You will network, collaborate and empower each other in one of the most vibrant, compassionate, inclusive and proudly diverse cities in the United States.

Our community, which has a thriving economy and deep cultural heritage, focuses on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. We are one of 32 cities across the country committed to advancing equity. Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) Department houses the Office of Equity, the Office of the Civil Rights Manager, the Disability Access Office and the Language Access Office to ensure that we work to advance equity throughout city policies, programs and procedures.

Additionally, the Small Business Economic Development Advocacy (SBEDA) Program provides access to city contracts by promoting the participation of eligible local small, minority and women-owned businesses (S/M/WBEs) to address historically documented disparities. In FY 2021, the City of San Antonio contracted in the amount of $277 million with 526 unique, local S/M/WBEs, representing the largest amount spent in the SBEDA Program’s history.

As the seventh largest city in the U.S., we foster partnership and growth opportunities in many industries, such as aerospace, bioscience, cybersecurity, green technologies, healthcare and information technology.

We’re also proudly called Military City, USA®. San Antonio is home to one of the largest populations of active-duty military and veterans, as well as mission-critical commands, including military medicine, cybersecurity, pilot training and basic training.

While you are here, I hope you can experience San Antonio’s rich and dynamic cultural background firsthand. San Antonio was founded at the crossroads of emerging cultures—this is evident as you walk our streets, visit our historic World Heritage Missions and dine in our restaurants to get a taste of our diverse culinary heritage.

Among other attractions and historic locations, I urge you to explore our world-renowned San Antonio Zoo, Sea World, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, culturally rich museums, colorful River Walk and historic Market Square. On behalf of my colleagues on the City Council and the entire city, thank you for selecting San Antonio for your national conference. We wish you a very successful event and are proud to welcome you to our great city!
