Mr. Thomas serves as Managing Director of Harbor Bankshares Capital Corporation and has over 29 years of investment management experience.

Before joining Harbor Bankshares, Mr. Thomas was a founding Managing Director of SCI Ventures, a family office investing primarily in media, communications and technology companies and a General Partner of Syncom Venture Management, a manager of institutional venture capital funds.

As a venture capital investor at SCI Ventures and Syncom Venture Management Mr. Thomas was a senior member of the management teams of these pioneering venture capital institutions that primarily focused on investing in minority entrepreneurs and companies whose products and services super-serve underserved communities. Collectively, the firms managed more than $500 million for their investors. As a senior executive and part-owner at both firms, Mr. Thomas sat on the investment committee that approved all investments and played an active role in the day-to-day management of the organizations. 

Before Syncom, Mr. Thomas started his career in investment management with Southern California Edison’s Pension Fund. He managed the $500 million international equity allocation and the $150 million alternative investments portfolio.

Mr. Thomas received his BBA in Accounting from Loma Linda University and his MBA in Finance and International Business from Pennsylvania State University.
