Somer Shindler brings 24 years of experience in Planning, Design, and Construction to AUS in the Chief Development Officer role. Most recently she served as Vice President over the Pacific Northwest Aviation Practice in with AECOM, although most of her experience in aviation has been on the Owner side working for Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and Denver International Airport (DEN).

At AUS Somer has the responsibility, and privilege, of leading the Planning and Development Teams, the nationally recognized Sustainability and Environmental Team and program as well as the Infrastructure and Asset Management groups.  The teams are responsible for delivering the exciting Airport Expansion and Development Program (AEDP).

In 2019, Somer was recognized as one of COMTO’s Celebrating Women Who Move the Nation that recognizes the outstanding contributions of women who are leading and advancing America’s transportation industry. This signature COMTO recognition celebrates women from all modes of transportation representing all sectors of the industry.

Somer is a native Texan and proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
