Alicia is a Business Development Specialist at the Minority Business Development Agency in San Antonio, which provides access to contracts, capital and markets for minority-owned businesses.  She focuses on helping clients with access to capital by providing general finance counseling, credit and risk analysis, and sourcing commercial lending and other financing opportunities.

Alicia previously worked with Bank of America, N.A. for over 30 years.  Alicia spent the majority of her tenure at the Bank in various credit and sales positions.  Towards the end of her career at the Bank, she managed a team of associates in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Ft. Worth Texas that were responsible for underwriting, structuring, and monitoring credit.  She also had various sales and advisory roles in her career at the Bank.

She is also a member and volunteer at Impact San Antonio, a women’s organization that provides grants to non-profits in the San Antonio Area.  She also tutors students at the college level in various subjects.

Alicia has also served on various Boards, including the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board, where she co-chaired the Finance Committee and actively worked on the New Membership committee.  She has also been involved in the Scholarship Committee of the Houston chapter of the University of Texas Ex-Students Association, where she interviewed high school senior scholarship candidates and helped mentor and advise them.

Prior to living in Houston & San Antonio, Alicia lived in Harlingen, Texas where she served on the St. Alban’s Episcopal School Board for several years and was the Board’s Treasurer.  She also served as Treasurer for the School’s PTA.  She was also involved with the Harlingen Economic Development Board. 

Alicia earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance from the University of Texas at Austin in 1986.   She is also a Certified Public Accountant.  She is married to William “Bill” Richards and has two grown children, Sara & Carlos.
