USDOT’s 2017 Bonding Education Program (BEP)

The US Department of Transportation (USDOT), in partnership with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), Surety and Fidelity Association of America (SFAA), and the Southwest Detroit Business Association (SDBA)

2017 USDOT’s Bonding Education Program (BEP) in Detroit

Many small businesses face difficulty in accessing sufficient bonding and financing to grow their business. The USDOT’s BEP is designed to provide small and disadvantaged businesses tools and resources required to compete for transportation projects. BEP participants will have an opportunity to learn more about this program, about procurement opportunities on federal and municipal contracts, meet one-to-one with surety and lending representatives, and other small business resources to advance their business. This session will assist your success with certifications and procurement opportunities with bonding and lending. Sessions begin October 18, 2017 from 2:00 PM – 6:30 PM

(Park in the back of the building- gated lot)

To be considered for this program, applicants must be primary owner for a business that meets the following criteria:

  • In business for at least two consecutive years
  • Annual revenue of at least $250,000
  • Good credit standing (business and personal)
  • Prior transportation infrastructure construction or heavy construction work experience (preferred)
  • Have at least one of the following certifications:
    • DBE
    • Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business
    • Women-Owned Small Business
    • Veteran Owned Small Business
    • Small Disadvantaged Business
    • Hub Zone
    • MMSDC
