National Conference Chair

Shannetta Griffin, P.E., is the Chief Development Officer of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority which operates John Glenn International, Rickenbacker International and Bolton Field airports in Columbus, Ohio, USA.
Ms. Griffin oversees the Development division which manages the planning, design and construction of all facilities at the three airports owned and operated by CRAA. In her role, she will lead the largest development the region has ever seen: the new passenger terminal and related development at John Glenn International. While the terminal is the hallmark of the development program, it’s only one of many projects in the works, starting with the construction of a new rental car facility slated to open in 2020.

She has more than 30 years of industry experience in planning, designing, constructing, managing budgets and coordinating with stakeholders on various airport projects including inline baggage systems, on-airport hotels, hangars, terminals, runways and much more.

Ms. Griffin received her degree from the University of Toledo and was the first African-American woman to graduate from the College of Engineering. She has been a member of the Airport Minority Advisory Council since 1986, has served three terms on their board and on several committees. She has received the Outstanding Alumni Civil Engineer for the University of Toledo, the 2016 Airport Minority Advisory Council Women of Influence Award and the 2017 Center for Leadership Development Achievement in Business and Industry Award. She currently chairs the Business Diversity Committee for Airports Council International North America.

Ms. Griffin enjoys inspiring young engineers through career days, college recruiting and volunteer activities. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and is involved with many aviation, business and community organizations.
