1. Doing Business at SEA-TAC Airport

Date: Monday, May 8, 2017
Time Commitment: 3 hours (9:00am – 12:00pm)

Who Should Attend This Session?

  • Business owners interested in learning more about what is involved with operating a concession at Sea-Tac Airport

Session Objectives

  • Business owners will obtain information about the Sea-Tac consumer market, the operational differences associated with concession units at Sea-Tac compared to a mall/street location, the design and buildout parameters at Sea-Tac, and the process that is used to select tenants
  • Business owners will obtain information to inform their decision-making regarding whether an opportunity at Sea-Tac should be considered for their company

 

2. ACDBE Certification – Part I

Date: Monday, May 15, 2017
Time Commitment: 2.5 hours (9:00am – 11:30am)

Who Should Attend This Session?

  • Business owners who are interested in understanding more about becoming a certified Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) and the process to obtain certification

Session Objectives

  • Business owners will receive information about the ACDBE program, certification eligibility, certification process, and the benefits of the ACDBE program
  • Business owners will leave with an ACDBE application form and background information to inform their decision-making regarding pursuing ACDBE certification

 

3. Proposal Writing

Date: Monday, May 22, 2017
Time Commitment: 3 hours (9:00am – 12:00pm)

Who Should Attend This Session?

  • Business owners who are ready to take the next step and pursue an opportunity to lease a unit at Sea-Tac Airport

Session Objectives

  • Business owners will receive information about the solicitation process for leasing a unit at Sea-Tac Airport, including a detailed description of what should be included in each section of the proposal along with information about how the proposals will be evaluated and scored
  • Business owners will leave with a solid understanding of how to structure a compliant and competitive proposal

 

4. Contractual and Financial Considerations

Date:  Monday, June 5, 2017
Time Commitment: 2 hours (9:00am – 11:00am)

Who Should Attend This Session?

  • Business owners interested in obtaining information regarding the potential costs of and financing for the build-out of a unit at Sea-Tac and alternative business arrangements (i.e., joint venture, sublease, direct lease, licensing)

Session Objectives

  • Business owners will receive information about various types of business arrangements often used by concession tenants, including joint ventures, subleases, direct leases, and licensing arrangements, to inform their decision-making regarding entering into a lease or partnership and how such arrangements are often structured
  • Business owners will also receive information about sources of financing

 

5. ACDBE Certification – Part II

Date: Monday, June 12, 2017
Time Commitment: Pre-scheduled 30-minute sessions with OMWBE staff

Who Should Attend This Session?

  • Business owners who have started an ACDBE application and have questions or those who have finished their ACDBE application and would like it reviewed for completion by OMWBE staff

Session Objectives

  • Business owners will have direct access to OMWBE staff for personalized, individual consultations regarding their ACDBE application
